Team Notes
WVFC 2006 Girls Red is a competitive girls soccer team that currently competes in the Club Champions League which has teams from MD, DC, VA, and WV. They have also competed in the Elite Development League (EDP) and the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL). All three are among the most competitive leagues for Mid-Atlantic region.
The team competes in highly competitive tournaments all around Virginia, Maryland, DC, and general Mid-Atlantic. As well, the team competes in WV State series, with the aspiration to win the WV State Championship! They also compete in many "College Showcase" tournaments on the East Coast.
The focus for the team is increasing improvement of all skills as well as soccer tactics (individual, group, and team).
They train hard mostly year around for Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons, but work around WV high school -- so, their seasons are typically from Nov through June.
The team maintains rigorous player development in skills and tactics for the girls' continued advancement in their club competitions, Olympic Development Program (ODP) & in their HS play -- and then further to play in college in coming years.
Head Coach - Brad Cantley
Coach Brad has coached competitive soccer for multiples ages in WV and VA for many years -- which includes teams in leagues such as: CCL, EDP, and NCSL. He has coached in AYSO, Loudoun Soccer, EPIC, Tri-County SC and now currently in WVFC.
He has earned the US Soccer National E Coaching License. Coach Brad has been with the girls since they started!
His Assistant Coach is Josh Cunningham, has coached competitive soccer for all ages for many years (in EDP, ERL, CCL, WAGS, NCSL), and has coached many players who went on to collegiate level. He has also has US Soccer National E & D Coaching Licenses, and NSCAA (US Soccer) Goalkeeper Diploma. Coach Brad & Coach Josh co-coach and train the team, collaboratively and professionally - both with many years of coaching top female soccer players.
Both live with their families in the WV Panhandle area.
