WVFC Panhandle would like to congratulate Josue Bringas (WVFC 04B Red) on being selected for the CCL United 2004 Boys Championship team set to compete at the Gothia Cup this summer in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Gothia Cup is the world's largest and most International youth football tournament. Each year, around 1700 teams from 80 nations take part and they play 4500 matches on 110 pitches.
Josue received word from CCL coaching staff yesterday commending him on outstanding performance at CCL United tryouts. This is what Josue had to say about the experience:
The tryouts were fun and exciting. Seeing new faces, learning everyone's skill, how they play and just getting to know them was a great experience. The small scrimmages we started off with were helpful because we were able to learn how each individual played and what worked with each player on the field. Once we moved to the full scrimmages, it's like we already knew how to play with each other and move the ball across the field. I am very grateful to have been invited to the tryouts and even more grateful now to have been selected to be on the team itself.
I also asked Josue about what the CCL experience has been like as a player new to WVFC and Club Champions League.
The level of skill I've gone up against at the CCL league games are higher than what I expected and more than what I was used to going up against. I had to learn and adjust quickly to this new level of competition. Playing at the CCL level brought me to train harder and get better for each game. I'm honestly grateful for the opportunity to be able to play in this league with this kind of level of competition. It's more exciting than anything else to get to play against people that can push you to be better at the sport you love. I've worked hard to get to this point and play at the level I play now. There's been good times and bad times on the field, but I keep pushing to work harder and stick with it because of the coaches I've had and my parents. Each time I step on the field to play there's only three things on my mind: Make my parents proud; Show everyone watching why I'm here; And score at least one gaol. Making that goal doesn't always happen in this league. But showing why I belong in it seems to be going well. I can't wait to see what other opportunities come up for me next.
We can't wait for what comes next either, Josue! Congratulations! We know you are going to do great things! You make your family, West Virginia Futbol Club, and the Spring Mills Cardinals proud!
